Ophthalmology - Specialty Clinics / Conferences

At times our ophthalmologists may recommend that a specialist see a particular patient. On certain occasions we have the opportunity to have visiting ophthalmology specialists come to our clinic to see these patients. They come to give us their expertise in such areas as oculoplastics, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, and diseases of the retina. If you are scheduled for one these clinics or conferences, please be aware that they are usually very busy. The specialists need to see as many people as possible in a limited amount of time. There will be many patients scheduled at one time, and each will be seen in turn as the specialist goes from room to room. The wait can be longer than usual, so please be prepared and be patient with us. The conferences are also used for teaching, so several ophthalmologists and ophthalmology residents may examine you. You may also need special testing or photographs done. As always, please make sure to bring all of your records!
