NUCLEAR MEDICINE CLINIC

Appointment Desk: 953-1111

Location: CHCC, 1st Floor

Patient Contact Representative: 953-1201

Description of Servicees: Nuclear Medicine performs diagnostic imaging, and some therapy procedures for inpatients and outpatients eligible for care at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.

Availability of Services: Open to all eligible beneficiaries. A Radiology consultation form (SF-513) must be completed by the requesting physician prior to scheduling an appointment. Requests from civilians and providers not assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth or tenant commands will be honored as long as the patient is eligible for care at a Naval facility. Requests (military or civilian) can be hand carried, mailed or faxed to Nuclear Medicine at 953-1102. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 0730-1600. Emergency service is available 24 hours a day. Nuclear medicine images may be placed on CD for civilian facilities provided a written request from the physician, patient's signed release, and a valid military or dependent identification card are presented.

Appointments: Scheduling is based on the type of Nuclear Medicine scan requested. For example, many scans are performed on certain days at specific times. Due to the length of some studies, only morning appointments may be available. Many Nuclear Medicine scans require us to order special doses. Sometimes shipping delays may cause a change in appointments. Each type of scan has its own special preparation. Patients are advised of special preparation when scheduling appointments.
